Jim Carroll and Frank went to the “Welcome Back” party on Tuesday where Lions supplied Kielbassa to the teachers and staff of the public school. Nice, second year service project.
Many of the members attended Charter Member Alan Carter’s funeral in their Lion vests on Tuesday, August 21 instead of the usual lunch meeting which was canceled to honor Alan’s passing. Club census stands at 77 today with Ariel having moved and Rusty Pollock inducted this week.
First-Half dues are being paid this week for Lions International and Multi-District 19.

Dear Lions Members,
1.) Please note the Fall BBQ/ Don Galt Picnic will be on September 22nd from 3:00pm to 7:00pm. Please bring neighbors and friends. This is an opportunity to introduce Lionism to others. We also are asking for volunteers to bring a salad or dessert. Dinner will be Ribs with beans and beer bread, and the cost is $10 per person. Thank you Dan Sorgen and Jim Cox for chairing this event.
2.) The attachment is an enlarged copy of the front and back of a business sized card that another Lions Club passes out to attract members. If you have any ideas or suggestions to format something like this for our members to use, please share with us.
3.) Anyone wishing to visit the Orcas Lions Club on September 12th, please let me know ASAP.
4.) I want to thank all the Lions for their generosity towards helping Leos To The Rescue. It was even more noteworthy that the Leos are helping past Lion Wutzel's widow in her hour of financial need. It was also interesting to hear members of the Legion mention that she has a son in Iraq, and that the Legion sends him monthly packages. Our hats are off to Lions John Towson, John Bostrom and Lisa Brown for their work with the Leos. More on this project will follow later. The generosity I saw today, as well as on many other occasions, warms my heart and makes me proud to be a Lion.
5.) Keep in mind Oktoberfest is October 13th. If you can help, please contact Lion Derek.
6.) Please welcome our newest members, Rusty and Casey.
Take care,
Lion Frank
