Food Handler's Card Info

For folks who need a Food Handler's Card so they can prepare/serve foot at our 4th of July kielbasa stand:

Please go to the County website: http://www.sanjuanco.com/

In the directory, under Community Services, you will find: Health Services. Click on it.

In the column on the left side of the page, click on: Food Safety.

The 4th of July Chair needs to go to this website to get a “Temporary Food Permit” application so we can legally sell kielbasas during the 4th of July parade. Phil, there is a $45 application fee -- $45 if paid at least 8 days before the event, more if we apply at the last minute.

Those who will be handling food should click on “Washington State Food Worker Manual” and review the materials. This is what you will be tested on at the Health Department.

You can take the on-line test at:

Health Department
145 Rhone Street
Friday Harbor, WA
378-4474
Monday through Friday 8-3
45-50 minute test
Once you pass the test, you pay $10 for your food handler’s card, which is good for 2 years!

International Programs supported by Lions

July_Article_School_in_a_Box[1].doc (26k file)

Hi, my name is Francine Kincaid and I am the chair person responsible for imparting information to all clubs in Zone H about international programs supported by Lions International.

Attached is an article sent in June for July newsletters and bulletins. I did not have the 2008-2009 list when this was sent, so I don't know how many received it.

I still don't have a list for bulletin editors, so I am asking if you would be of assistance by forwarding this to your bulletin editor with a copy to me so I will have the correct email.

If your club doesn't have a bulletin, please pass this information on to your club members.

When the zone chair visits your club, I will be contacting you ahead of time to put school-in-a-box on your agenda. If your club cannot donate to this cause, the zone chair will have a pencil box to pass around the membership in case individuals in your club want to donate.

Thank you for any assistance you can give me. I will be sending information every month. The information for August newsletters will be on the peace poster contest.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Message from Lion President Frank March 27, 2008

Easter_Sunday-2 (1436k image)

For those Lions that were not able to attend our weekly meeting on Tuesday, attached are pictures of my Easter egg hunt on Sunday. The result was getting two checks on Monday that totaled a little over $510 for the Lions Club. For those of you that cannot see through the tarps and mess, this is our aluminum can run, with a few other precious metals.
We are still looking for names for our Open House. Please spread the word and help get names to Lion John Towson. We need to also pressure Lion Howard to write something up in the newspaper inviting people to call up a Lion to invite them. Let's all put our shoulder to the wheel and give the Open House Committee the helping hand they deserve.
Take care,
Lion President, Frank : )
